EV Charging Levels Explained
Level 1 (120V)
Uses a standard household outlet. Adds 6-8 km of range per hour. Too slow for daily use as it takes 20 - 40 hours to fully charge most EVs.
Level 2 (240V)
Requires dedicated 240V circuit (similar to an electric dryer outlet). Adds 40-50 km of range per hour. Recommended for home use. Fully charges most EVs in 6-8 hours.
Level 3 (DC Fast Charging)
Commercial fast chargers found at public stations. Not practical for residential installation due to cost and electrical requirements.
